MECA TBH CENTER (in Houston’s East End) is a dynamic cultural hub dedicated to preserving and promoting Latino arts and heritage. Formerly home to Talento Bilingüe de Houston (TBH), a bilingual theater company founded in 1977, the 18,000-square-foot facility includes a 240-seat theater, dance studio, gallery, and rehearsal spaces. Since 2019, MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) has managed the center, ensuring its continued impact on arts education and cultural programming.
MECA’s Gallery Director Lizbeth Ortiz organizes and curates exhibitions that uplift Latino artists. A Houston-based multidisciplinary artist, curator, and cultural advocate and a graduate of Pratt Institute and HSPVA, she is also the founder of Houston’s annual Frida Festival.
