| *** UPDATED CALENDAR *** Thank you to a couple of eagle-eyed readers who reached out with corrections and additions. During this week’s transition to MUSEDHouston.com, a handful of event details and submissions did not make it into the newsletter as intended, and I have added them below. In addition, the location for Saturday’s Through Her Eyes exhibition has been corrected (The Silos at Sawyer Yards; the event link was correct), and the opening reception for Kinetics of Urban Movement takes place next week on June 18, not this week. To address issues during my website migration, you may have noticed that I now require external links with event submissions so readers can confirm details directly with venues. Schedules, locations, and other event information are always subject to change. Thank you for your patience and for helping keep MUSED Houston accurate, current, and community-driven. |
One of the things I love most about Houston is that no single weekend can contain all of its creative energy.
This week alone, artists are transforming galleries, theaters, libraries, hotels, studios, and even the city’s architecture into places for conversation and discovery. Skateboarding becomes a lens for understanding design. Dance reimagines literary classics. Artists explore questions of race, migration, surveillance, identity, and belonging. Musicians, filmmakers, poets, printmakers, and performers invite us to see familiar stories from new perspectives.
As always, I can’t make it to everything, and neither can you. But here are a few exhibitions, performances, screenings, openings, and gatherings that caught my attention this week.
See you out and about.
