Blue Bones is a public art project by Houston-based artist Reynier Leyva Novo that brings cobalt blue to existing buildings, structures, and architectural remains across Third Ward, making the neighborhood’s histories visible in the places where they unfolded. Presented by PAC Public as a Special Project at Untitled Art, Houston, the project connects works throughout the neighborhood with Open Archive: Third Ward, a growing collection of photographs, documents, and stories contributed by the community. Join the public launch on October 2, a walk through selected Third Ward sites on October 4, and a community presentation and film screening on October 20. The project is developed in partnership with Greater Zion Baptist Church, Re-Ward Third Ward, the University of Houston’s Center for Public History and Center for Arts and Humanities, and the Judy Cook Building, with Raúl A. Ramos serving as coordinator and history lead.
