SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2026 | 11 AM–3 PM: Houston Center for Contemporary Craft presents a free hands-on soap carving activity with sculptor, woodworker and current resident artist Arden Carlson.

Using carving tools and a bar of soap, participants will explore reductive sculpture—the process of creating a form by removing material. Carve a fish, heart, abstract form or your own design while learning basic carving techniques.

Soft and easy to work with, soap makes an accessible introduction to carving for artists of all ages. Take your finished sculpture home to display—or put it to use in the bath!
