EXHIBIT ON VIEW SEPTEMBER 19–OCTOBER 31, 2026: Houston Public Library presents the “LULAC History” exhibition at its Central Library in the 1st Floor Gallery.

OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, September 19, 2026 | 2–3 PM

The exhibition traces nearly a century of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and its fight for civil rights since its founding in 1929. Through archival materials and pivotal moments—including the landmark 1954 Hernandez v. Texas U.S. Supreme Court victory, President John F. Kennedy’s 1963 visit to Houston and the creation of the “Little School of the 400”—the exhibition explores LULAC’s role in advancing educational opportunity, equality and immigration reform.

Organized by LEAP (Latino Educational Archival Programs).
