EXHIBIT ON VIEW SEPTEMBER 12–30, 2026: Spare Room Residency presents “Are You There?”, a group exhibition featuring Saran Alderson, Ahra Cho, Meg Cook, Corinna Cowels, Shaun Griffiths, Danielle Jones, Kate Muholland, Lauren Hope Walker, and Erika Whitney.

OPENING RECEPTION: September 12, 2026 | 4–7 PM

Curated by the You Choose You Chose collective, “Are You There?” begins with two ideas. First asking if the texture is there or perhaps not even noticing it. We often experience artwork through social media, making it difficult to understand the physical surface of the work. Without seeing the work in person, we miss the thickness of paint, the roughness of materials, and the subtle qualities that make each surface unique.

The second refers to the endless scroll and the mindless likes we give as we move from one image to the next. Art becomes another post in the feed, even though so much of it deserves to be experienced up close and in person.

After the opening, the exhibition is available for viewing by appointment. Contact Erika Whitney to schedule appointments via email at erikawhitneyh@gmail.com or text at (903) 348-3376.
