OPENING “Form: Under Pressure” at Monterroso Gallery

SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2026 | 3–6 PM: Pressure isn’t only physical. It can be repetition, time, heat, weight, or a series of decisions made in the studio. This exhibition looks at the many ways artists work through those forces and how form emerges along the way.
This exhibition reflects what our residents have been talking about and exploring over the past months. They’ve been immersed in art, asking questions, exploring new possibilities in their own work, and now it’s time to share some of it. One of our residents is curating the exhibition. We want artists to experience every part of exhibiting, including what happens behind the scenes and how a show comes together.
Maria Rusinek writes: Form: Under Pressure features seven artists working in painting, ceramics, glass, and drawing. Each material responds to pressure in a different way. Clay is fired. Glass is fused. Paint is layered, scraped, or covered. Drawing builds mark by mark. The process changes the material, and those changes become part of the work.
