ARTIST TALK + CLOSING RECEPTION – Saturday, July 25th, 2026 | 12–1:30 PM: Celebrate the closing of “To the Horizon,” a solo exhibition by Houston-based artist Rebecca Pugh, with a reception and artist talk at Sabine Street Studios. The reception begins at 12 p.m., followed by an artist talk at 12:30 p.m. produced and hosted by Melissa Richardson Banks as part of the MUSED Houston Live! series. The moderated conversation will be recorded in front of the audience and released as a future podcast episode.

Inspired by the landscapes she encounters during her long commute between Houston and College Station, Pugh transforms memories of highways, fences, grasses, wildflowers, and the Texas horizon into vibrant abstract paintings. The exhibition features works created since relocating to Texas in 2020, including an immersive 18-foot painting installation inspired by the memory of passing a fallen wooden fence during a summer drought. Through expressive color, layered mark-making, and geometric forms, Pugh explores movement, memory, and our relationship to place.

“To the Horizon” and MUSED Houston Live! are funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
